Root filling

What is a root canal treatment?

Root canal treatment means the removing of damaged or dead pulp and filling the space left. The remaining tooth can then be repaired.

Why do I need root canal treatment?

A root filling may be necessary if the nerve inside the tooth dies. This may be caused by dental injury or tooth decay penetrating the nerve. An abscess may develop.

What are the risks and complications?

Root canal treatment has about 90% success rate. Occasionally, a root canal treatment will fail altogether, marked by a return of pain. In some cases, an apicectomy might solve the problem.

How is it done?

There are different methods for root canal treatments. In this practice we use the latest equipment and technology and are specially trained for using machinery files to clean the roots.

What happens after treatment?

Natural tissue inflammation may cause discomfort for a few days. A follow up review can monitor tissue healing. From this point on, brush and floss regularly, avoid chewing hard foods on the treated tooth and see us regularly.

This x-ray shows the root-filling material sealing the
root canal all the way down to the tip of the root.
